Meet Shah, 22, from Mumbai in the lead the Chartered Accountant (CA) exam with a score of 642 out of a total of 800 points. A resident of Mahalaxmi, Shah graduated in commerce from HR College last year. It was his first attempt and he is more than happy to know the result.
“I had prepared well so I was definitely expecting a ranking. But to be top of the country is definitely a big surprise for me,” said Shah, who is currently focused on finishing his internship which will end. this month. Meet plans to work with companies in the future, but has not yet decided which industry it would like to join.
“I’m still considering all my options. There are multiple choices, exposure opportunities in different areas and gaining experience with trusted and well-known brands before I start anything on my end at the “future. I’m weighing all the options available with what I want to do,” said Meet, who does all of this with her trusted advisor for life – her older sister Kinjal.
A Commerce graduate from Jai Hind College, Kinjal is currently based in the United States but the distance in miles has not stopped Meet from consulting her in all aspects of her life. “I really look up to him,” said Meet, whose father died when he was just two years old and Kinjal, who is five years older than him, was a source of support for him after his mother .
The CA topper enjoys reading mythology in his spare time and prefers to re-read mythological stories with different perspectives by contemporary writers such as Amish, Devdutt Pattanaik among all.
During his preparation for the CA, he was introduced to a national collective of aspiring CAs called Vision CA. “We organize free doubt resolution sessions, interviews with former degree holders among all those who help in the preparation of CA as well as to maintain morale. I will continue my association with him,” Meet said.
The CA final exam was held in May 2022 for which 6657 candidates appeared for Group I and 63253 candidates appeared for Group II, of which 14643 and 13877 candidates respectively passed the exam, the pass percentage at registration being only about 21%. A total of 29,348 candidates applied for the two groups and 3,695 passed.
Akshay Goyal of Jaipur and Shruti Sanghavi of Surat are ranked second and third in India’s top three after Meet.
